THE GREAT OUTDOORS

One of the most spectacular canyons in the east.

• View five stunning waterfalls: "L'eau d'or, Tempesta, Hurricane, Oceana, Bridal Veil (a small fee to enter park).
• See where Karl Wallenda of The Flying Wallendas performed a death-defying high-wire stunt without a safety net.
• Grab a permit and hike to the bottom of the gorge. (Arrive early,
only 100 hikers are allowed each day--no charge for the permit).
• Spend a few moments in the delightful museum, then watch a short movie at the interpretation center (Free of charge).
• See where the movie, "Deliverance" was shot. Starring John Voight, Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty.



DUPONT FOREST STATEPARK

(1 hour from Greenville) Located between Hendersonville and Brevard in Cedar Mountain, NC.

 Pack a picnic and spend the day hiking to Hooker Falls, Triple Falls, High Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Wintergreen Falls, and Grassy Creek Falls.
 Hooker Falls, (aside from needing a less risqué name change) is a popular swimming hole-- one of the rare places where you can swim right up to the water fall.
 Hike, bike or ride your horse to the top of High Falls. Don’t leave before exploring the beautiful covered bridge.
 With over 80 miles of trails, DuPont Forest is one of the leading mountain bike destinations around.
 Tie-outs for horses are provided near waterfalls and other points of interest.
 An ambitions hike up to Stone Mountain offers a panoramic view of the Forests from its highest point at 3600ft.
